Ripping

Last night I ran out to my local Michael's to see if they've re-stocked their Loops & Threads supply. They have not and are completely sold out of Fleece. This should be okay, I still have about 4 skeins left from my original purchase that should get me at least through 2-3 more rounds of white stripes until I need to go back for more. Knowing myself, I'll probably start looking for other Michael's in my area. I know of at least one that's a little bit of a longer drive. Weekend road trip anyone?

Since I decided that I would double up on stripes instead of repeating the stripes, I needed to pick up another skein of Golden Rod, as well as a few more of Sweet Grass and Spearmint since these stripes will now be a bit longer than originally called for. Fortunately my Michael's did have some of these in stock so I should have enough of these colors. Once I'm done with these stripes (that's 6 of the 11 stripes completed!) I'll have to finally make a choice on what to do with the remaining 5...

Anyways, I'm so excited to be working on this project, it just feels like it's flying by. Maybe its because progress with blankets like this is so visual? The appearance of a new striped round is just so noticeable. Anyways, I finished the first Fleece stripe and moved on to the second of my Golden Rod stripes. Almost 75% of the way through round 2 of the Golden Rod stripe and I realized that I completely missed on of the corners in round 1. BOO! So for the first time in this project - I had to rip out all of round 2 and most of round 1 to go back and fix the mistake.

I haven't gone back to finish and hopefully I'll get back to it tonight and have a picture for you. But what I realized was that the farther along I get in this project, the more careful I'm going to have to be. Ripping out a round at this point doesn't seem like a big deal... but later on when a round could be hundreds of stitches (or chains) - that's going to be a lot of work.
