I found Antje Gillingham's Knitting Circles around Socks book somewhere in there. If my memory serves me correct, I bet it was even on sale. I was excited about this find because I knew I wanted to learn how to knit socks and I had heard that knitting socks in the magic circle method was super easy. Gillingham's book was devoted to knitting in the magic circle method! Match made in heaven! So I tried it out as soon as I got home. It was nicely written and the instructions are easy to follow. Shortly after I ended up with these....
Once I knew I could do it, I started off on a new pair using the same pattern. We were getting ready to go to the Eagles vs Packers game in a few weeks and I wanted to have the socks done by then. Well, I wasn't prepared for how much work it was going to take. Knitting the number 12 upside down and backwards was really messing with my head and it took me at least 3 tries before I got it right. Once I turned the heel it was smooth sailing. And then Christmas knitting happened... and I didn't work on the socks for another two months.
Last night I decided I would not let them sit there unfinished any longer. I picked them back up and finished them. Weaved in the ends this morning. I haven't decided if I'm going to block or not since they'll likely loose their shape quickly with wear. I'm going to count these towards my "Complete something every month" knitting goal for this year since I completed them in January (we'll call 2/1 still January...) and I hadn't really planned on finishing anything in January. But in any event... without further ado...
So, in honor of the Super Bowl.... We'll be wearing the team colors of teams not playing today!
