For Valentine's this year, I didn't do with anything knitted. Instead, I used my very basic sewing skills. Nothing spectacular, but it gave me a chance to use my brand new sewing table (which he made me) to make a few things that he appreciated. He got me some really pretty roving. If you can't tell its a really pretty gray ombre. For Christmas he got me private spinning lessons, so I'm really excited to get spinning.
Over the last week leading up to Valentine's day, I was traveling to San Diego. If there is one place you want to travel while in the dead of winter in Wisconsin, it's San Diego. The entire time, I was able to sit outside in 70 degree weather enjoying fresh air and sunshine. I didn't get a whole lot of time to myself, but I got a lot of that hat I've been working on while on the plane. It's amazing how much knitting two 3-hr flights can get you. I've gotten the majority of the main part of the hat finished. All I have to do is decrease for the crown and I'll be done. I'll likely have to block it since the twisted stitch really is spiraling, which is not what I'm looking for.
I've modified the pattern I'm using so that you can see the decrease stitch line. It should show the decrease on either side and mimic the pattern that the original hat uses. Regardless, I'm excited. I'm not sure if he's forgotten about the hat yet or not since he likely would have expected to get it for Valentine's Day. He might have thought that I aborted the plan since he found out. Fingers crossed!
As Jon Stewart would say... And now, your moment of zen..
