I don't even know where to begin. The last couple of weeks have been crazy with lots of ups and downs. I'm not even sure when I've last slept. Last I left you I was off to San Diego for a work trip/girl's weekend combo and I was just started my Whisky Rikke hat!
San Diego was super fun! We had lots of time in the sun, did yoga every day and just overall enjoyed ourselves. It was a much needed break from winter and life in general. While in San Diego, and the flight home, I was able to finish my hat. It was just in time too because I definitely needed it once I landed back in Wisconsin.
What's exciting is that I'm still on track to complete a project each month! Jan/Feb/March -- check, check and check! So what's on my needles in April? I had a hard time with this one. I wanted something light and airy and my first issue of Vogue Knitting came in with such lovely summer styles. Such a hard decision!! But I decided to make my project selection a little bit more difficult for myself by limiting to only using yarn that was in the stash. I have so much stash.... I really need to try to work through it. So I'm going to.
For the rest of the year, projects must be made out of stash. (I'm going to regret that.... )
So my April project is my first shawl!! I'm tackling the Pretty Basic Shawl. I bought some very pretty alpaca fingering weight wool from Rach-Al-Paca which I got at a yarn and wool fest this past fall. It's a natural color, off-white, that has some tinsel woven into it giving it a subtle sparkle. As a result... I'm labeling the project my Pretty Basic Pretty Shawl. I know, I'm so creative.
I started only a few days ago and I'm already through the main portion of the pattern and am already onto the edging. The pattern only calls for 5 repeats of the pattern, which felt pretty small, so I added 2 more repeats. To maintain proportion, I'll likely add 2 more repeats of the edging pattern as well.
Can you see the sparkle?? I'm absolutely smitten!!
As for the downs???? Well, I don't really want to get into those now. Just know that its pretty down. Blegh. But at least I have my knitting.
