Nothing beats the March freeze like a trip to a warmer climate. This winter I spent a good chunk of time in warmer weather states: Florida, Texas, Southern California. The only complaint that I have is that it makes it tough to head back, especially when you know home is still in a deep freeze. Yesterday I left Madison behind for sunny San Diego! Much to the dismay of my friends back home who were hit with a snow storm this morning.
One of my best friends from back home (as in Philadelphia home) is meeting me out here tonight and we are going to have an "Escape the Cold Weather Girls Weekend!" and I could not be more excited. It's been too long since we've been able to spend more than a few hours together since the last time she came to visit me after I moved. Every time I'm home, I've got so much going on that we don't get much quality time - and usually there are a few extra people depending on if I'm trying to get everyone together in one shot.
There will be sun and beer and yoga! And maybe even a little knitting!! I brought along my Whiskey Rikke hat - which ended up life saving. My flights to get to San Diego yesterday got all kinds of fubar-ed and I ended up taking a 4 hour flight from Detroit to San Diego. As a result, I'm about 5 inches into the hat... only 3 more until I start decreasing. At this pace, I'll have the hat finished before I get back to the arctic. Perfect timing!!
I don't have any pictures of my progress, midnight on an airplane doesn't do this pretty yarn any justice. So I'll be sure to get some soon. But my sights are already on what's next and I've got some grand plans....
