Rejuvenated!

This weekend I snuck away to Galena, IL, which is a little town about 2 hrs southwest of Madison on the Iowa border. We stayed on an old farm for retired horses. It was completely off the grid, with almost no cell service or internet in the entire town! Just what the doctor ordered. We spent most of the weekend just relaxing and hanging out with the horses. After the week we had, I really needed to completely change gear. Just look at those horses! So friendly. Just wanted to come over and say heyyyyy. They didn't care about what fire I had blowing up at work or any concept of missed timelines. They just wanted to have some food and maybe play a little bit.

Overall, the weekend was really great. We went into Galena for a bit where we spent the afternoon walking along the streets, stopping in an antique store or two for some hidden treasures. There was also a local yarn shop right on the main street that we made a quick stop in. It's not like I need more yarn, but the store was begging me! I walked out with a few skeins of Berroco's Vintage because it was on sale, and who doesn't love a sale?

Just look at that yarn store begging me, the shame!

I did finally cast on a new project, like I've been meaning all along. I finally spun up the Madelinetosh Vintage, my gosh its so pretty! I just can't help how in awe of it I am. I decided that that was the yarn I wanted to work with and I knew I needed something simple to show of all of variations in color. While obsessively searching Ravelry the other day for projects others have made with the yarn, I noticed that this Rikke hat was quite popular. At the time, I really didn't want to make another hat. I have so many hats! But I really couldn't find anything else that was calling my name. So this morning the Whiskey Rikke was born!

I stopped by my local coffee shop this morning before heading off to work. Before I knew it I was already a few rows deep.
